Putting on a great show is about preparation, precision, and the behind-the-scenes audio work that ensures every note lands perfectly. At the centre of it all is your sound crew—making sure every mic is live, every monitor is clear, and every performer sounds their best.
Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how your audio crew prepares for a flawless performance on the day of your shows.
----
Arrival & Setup
Your crew will typically arrive 90 minutes before your performance starts to begin the pre-show preparations. First tasks include:
Powering up the PA system
Running a line check to confirm signal flow
Checking in with the production team for any cast changes
Preparing microphones for fitting
Mic Up
Once hair and makeup are complete, performers are fitted with headsets by your ‘mic tech’. Once fitted, each mic is tested for signal before the performer heads to sound check.
Wireless handheld and instrument clip-on mics (which can be used when band members are incorporated into the movement or choreography of a show) are also checked.
Sound Check
As we get closer to show time, your engineer will work with the band and cast to fine-tune mic placement, volume levels and catch any last-minute issues.
Performer and instrument needs can be adjusted based on prior notes—but sound checks are where your team can detect sudden interference, hardware faults or signal issues. That’s why every check counts.
Final Prep
With sound check complete, your team will:
Confirm all lines and mics are ready
Communicate last-minute notes with crew and cast
Set house music, mute performer mics, and take a quick breather (before getting into the work done during the show - but that’s a story for another time!).
By curtain time, everything is locked in: the audience hears a polished mix, the band can play with confidence and the cast can perform knowing they are in good hands. That smooth experience? It’s not luck—it’s weeks of preparation, led by your Loud & Clear admin team and crew.

Whether it’s a small venue or a festival stage, the process is the same: power up, mic up, check the mix, and make sure every element is locked in to deliver a show the audience won’t forget.
Wishing you a Super September,
